Nobody likes a sad, skinny baby...nobody!

Whether I’m ordering a meal at a restaurant or cooking up something at home, enjoying what I eat brings me immense satisfaction. On the other hand, being disappointed in a meal sends me into tantrum mode.

I expect certain things out of a dining experience. I’m realistic about the standards I hold for each place, from the local taco bar to the five star steak house. What I've decided is that it's about a perfect balance between service, food quality, ambiance and price. That may seem like a lot to juggle, but Houston is a big city with a plethora of restaurants to choose from. There’s no reason to expect anything less than the best.

If you strip my needs down to the bare essentials, you'll find I'm very much like a baby; I love tasty food and I love to be happy. If an experience doesn't generate a sense of fulfillment for those two basic needs...you're gonna hear me cry.

Looking for the Best Mac & Cheese in Houston. Got any Ideas???

The Skinny: Hey foodies, I'm looking for the best Mac & Cheese in Houston. Got any ideas?

The Fat: From birth to maybe 18 years old, I never ate boxed Mac & Cheese. Sure I'd heard about the orange, powdery delight, but living in a household of great Cuban and Sicilian cooks, the only sauces that made it on to pasta were homemade.

Any requests on my part to purchase boxed or jarred pasta of any kind always garnered the same response; "Your grandfather is probably turning in his grave!" The thought of impeding my grandfather's eternal rest was enough to prevent me from ever buying a box.

In college, I realized there was a harmless loophole; restaurant Mac & Cheese.
There, I was able to experience the creamy American novelty, minus the guilt. Sadly, the overcooked Macaroni drenched in bland cheese sauce always failed to impress me.

Over the years this comfort food has evolved into a number of fantastic and noteworthy varieties and now I'm on a mission to find the best.

So my fellow food lovers, I ask you, where should I go to get great Mac & Cheese in Houston?

I'll make a list of all the places you suggest and then spend the better part of October testing them all out!

"Gourmet mac n cheese is awesome at Grand Luxe and also at Max's Wine Dive on Washington. Fast food mac -n cheese is best at KFC and Boston Market! I am also a mac n cheese lover since birth!"

I'd like to hear what you come up with because Mac-n-Cheese is a major draw for me. Try T'afia. Thier Mac is pretty yummy!

Mac n' cheese highlights for me in Houston have been at Perry's Steakhouse, Oceanaire Seafood Room and Truluck's (has crab meat in it, and is unfortunately no longer on the menu).

Luby's is a little plain but if you like that I would recommend This Is It Soul Food in midtown on W. Gray. and they don't skimp on portions at all.
